SIMCO (Standard Injection Molding Company) is adding a new product to its already extensive range of plastic enclosures for electrical and electronic applications. The new enclosure will be a 2” square by ¾” high press-together box. The new size was developed for a specific customer, but should have a wider application. The new box will feature a molded top and bottom that fit together snugly, eliminating the need for screws. If needed, the top and bottom can be glued or ultrasonically welded together for permanent closure. The two halves can also be separated and used as potting boxes by pouring an encapsulating liquid over the installed component. The outside of the enclosure will be lightly textured to resist scratches and scuffing. Like all SIMCO enclosures, the box will be available in either standard ABS plastic or UL rated materials that are tested to the 94V0 specification for flame resistance. Custom machining and printing are also available on all SIMCO enclosures. At this stage the mold is completed and a sample has been made. The next step is to polish the cavities and send them out for texturing. The anticipated launch date is in the next month. The new enclosure will be available at a low price. The price is expected to start at around $1.10, with discounts for quantity orders.
